Protect Your Identity One Confidential Document at a Time

Did you know 15.4 million U.S. consumers were victims of identity theft or fraud in 2016? Don’t become part of the statistic by protecting your identity and purging confidential documents from your home or business.

Since 2008, Minster Bank has hosted bi-annual Community Shred events at various Minster Bank offices to help people and businesses securely dispose of confidential documents.

At those events in the last 10 years, we have shredded 149,550 pounds of paper — or 75.2 tons of confidential documents.

How Can Shredding Documents Help Me?

Here are 3 ways Shred events can impact your life:

  • Reduce stress by decluttering. Purging documents you no longer need can remove clutter, distractions and stress.
  • Better protect yourself against theft. Old files lying around your home or office could be easy grabs for a criminal and could contain valuable data, such as credit card and Social Security numbers.
  • Begin a document management system. Documents that contain personally identifiable information should never be stored in easily-accessible areas. Once the decluttering process has begun, adopt a document management process that keeps your documents secure and regularly purges what you no longer need.

What Happens to the 75 Tons of Shred-Its?

At Minster Bank, we are a proud supporter of recycling. In 10 years, our 75 tons of shredded documents have been bundled and recycled into paper products, saving 995 trees!
