At Minster Bank, we believe creating a bright future begins with fostering talent and professional development in our young people.
That’s why each year, we award scholarships to area students graduating from high school. We’re pleased to announce the 13 winners of this year’s award. Read on to learn more about each recipient.
Gray Harshbarger, Covington High School
Gray is the son of Sarah Harshbarger and Chris and Molly Harshbarger. He plans to attend the University of Cincinnati this fall to major in business. Gray participated in basketball, baseball, student council, National Honor Society and the CCC Academic Team in high school.
Laura Dudgeon, Fairlawn High School
Laura is the daughter of Lance and Shannon Dudgeon. She played varsity basketball, softball and volleyball while in school, was a class officer, and also participated in National Honor Society, FCCLA, Academia, and student council. She will be attending The Ohio State University – Lima in the fall to study business.
Amy Eilerman, Ft. Loramie High School
Amy Eilerman is the daughter of Ralph “Rusty” and Kristie Eilerman. She is attending Bowling Green State University in the fall to study business. In high school, Amy was active in golf, National Honor Society, youth ministry and student council. She was a scholar-athlete, made the A/A- Honor Roll, volunteered at the elementary school, lettered all four years in golf and was a Mathlete.
Words from Amy: Dear Minster Bank – Thank you for awarding the Minster Bank scholarship. It is greatly appreciated. I will be attending Bowling Green State University this fall, and I will be majoring in business.
Grace Olding, Lehman High School
The daughter of Bryan and Sara Olding, Grace will be attending Miami University in the fall to major in business. She earned 1st Honors every quarter while in high school, and also participated in National Honor Society, Interact, Academia, the Stock Club, Cavs 4 a Cure and more. She played basketball and was also the soccer captain, school executive president and a student United Way representative.
Max Albers, Marion Local High School
The son of Dave and Jenny Albers, Max is attending Columbus State Community College in the fall to study business. In high school, he participated in football, basketball, FCA and Varsity Club.
Jay Prenger, Minster High School
Jay is the son of Mark and Jodi. In the fall, he will attend Bowling Green State University to major in international business. In high school, Jay played football, track and CYO basketball. He was also a member of the National Honor Society and the Dirt Club, was president of student council, took a mission trip to Haiti, was a salutatorian, and worked part-time at Nidec Minster.
Words from Jay: I am very honored and humbled to be the recipient of the Minster Bank scholarship. My future plans are to attend Bowling Green State University and to major in international business. Justin Tenkman, New Bremen High School
Justin is the son of Ron and Dina. He will attend The Ohio State University – Lima in the fall to student business. In high school, Justin participated in football, basketball, baseball and Junior District Leadership. He was the Business Club president and 2nd team All-MAC (baseball).
Words from Justin: Thank you for awarding me the Minster Bank Scholarship. I will be attending The Ohio State University and majoring in business. My top goal is to come out of college debt-free. I really believe it can help me get a head start in life. This scholarship will definitely help me to achieve this goal.
Ray Newton, New Knoxville High School
Ray is the son of Jim and Linda. He will be attending Trine University in Indiana to study business and golf management. In high school, Ray was the 2018-2019 Golf MVP and the 2017-2018 Scholar-Athlete. He also participated in the marching, pep and jazz bands; choir; the school play; the Scholastic Bowl; German club; and the TEAMS competition.
Words from Ray: Thank you so much for the Minster Bank scholarship! I am excited to advance my education at Trine University in golf management. This generous scholarship from Minster Bank will provide much-needed financial assistance for the upcoming year.
Being part of the local community has given me an appreciation for the hard work and persistence that go into making a business thrive and how the lives of those we work with is enhanced. I look forward to pursuing my business degree and anticipate the positive impact that I can make in the future.
Dylan Beery, St. Marys Memorial High School
Dylan is the son of Michelle Mallory. He will be attending the University of Toledo in the fall to study accounting. In high school, Dylan was active at his church and CCD classes and volunteered with the elderly in the community.
Words from Dylan (excerpted from his application essay): My occupational goal is to go to the University of Toledo and acquire a bachelor’s degree in accounting. I plan to make the best of college socially, financially and academically.
Joshua Harlett, Sidney High School
Joshua is the son of Kellie and John Harlett. He will be attending The Ohio State University to study finance. While in high school, Joshua was the NHS president, a member of the Business Professionals of America, the Key Club treasurer and a member of the German club. He also played football and basketball and earned the All-GWOC North Honorable Mention.
Isaac Flora, Troy Christian High School
Isaac is the son of Mark and Lora. He will be attending Lee University in Tennessee to study business administration with a finance emphasis. Isaac ran cross country and track in high school; was involved with The Coffee Cart student business; completed a seven-week run for cancer in 2018; worked at the Live Free Summer Reading Program; was a member of National Honor Society and the Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy; job-shadowed at Allen Financial Group and Thrivent Financial; and works at Purebred Coffee Co.
Words from Isaac: I am writing to thank you for your generous scholarship that I received at my Troy Christian graduation ceremony. This award will be so incredibly helpful to me and will allow me to pursue my dream to work in the field of finance. With your gift, I will be able to begin my college career at Lee University in the fall. I am so honored and thankful for your belief in me.
Katie Robinson, Troy High School
Katie is the daughter of Lori and Scott. She will attend the University of Cincinnati in the fall to study business. In high school, Katie was a member of the swim team and ran cross country. She also participated in choir, Reading Buddies, National Honor Society, Key Club, 4-H, and Senior Cabinet.
Aaron Good, Wapakoneta High School
Aaron is the son of Reg and Susanne. He’ll attend Ohio Northern University in the fall to study accounting. Aaron played soccer and basketball in high school, earning varsity letters in each; he was also a member of the National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Congratulations to the 2019 Scholarship Winners!
Minster Bank wishes each 2019 scholarship winner an enriching college experience and successful future.
The recipients are chosen by each school’s respective selection process. Minster Bank has no influence on who is chosen, except for three criterions provided to each school prior to selection:
- The recipient shall be a graduating senior who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- The recipient must plan a two‐ or four‐year degree with a major in business at an accredited community, private or public university.
- Any suspension from high school will negate eligibility for the scholarship.
